Taking the first step toward therapy can feel difficult, especially when you’re not quite sure where to begin. My aim is to make that process feel a little easier by offering a warm, compassionate, and judgment-free space where you can talk openly and feel genuinely heard.
I’m Sana Amjad, an Associate Psychologist. My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based psychological practices. I believe that therapy is not about being told what to do—it is about having the right space to understand yourself, explore what you’re going through, and work towards meaningful change at your own pace.
Every person’s experiences and needs are different. That’s why I tailor therapy to you, creating a supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and challenges with honesty and without judgment.
What you can expect:
A warm, respectful, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship
Evidence-based approaches tailored to your individual needs
After taking online sessions from her i am already feeling very relieved. I believe this is the first time I opened up to someone and poured my heart out. Therapy sessions like you carry out must be normalized and i believe everyone should accept that taking therapy is for their own betterment and their loved ones. As everyone must be dealing with stress, depression, anxiety, OCD, low self esteem, family problems, relationship problems or any other kind of mental distress And for that they must talk to a professional who would not only treat them well but groom, counsel and help them heal for their better present and future. May Allah bless you ✨
I started therapy with Sana because I was struggling with anxiety and constant overthinking. She made me feel comfortable from the very first session and helped me understand where these feelings were coming from. I’ve learned practical ways to manage my anxiety, and I feel much more in control now.
My experience with Sana at Health & Psyche has been wonderful. She listens carefully and doesn’t make you feel like you’re being judged or rushed. I’ve learned a lot about my thoughts and emotions through the sessions, and I genuinely feel more confident in dealing with things now.
I’m really glad I chose Health & Psyche for therapy. Sana is very kind, patient, and professional. I was initially hesitant about opening up, but she created such a comfortable space that it became much easier. The sessions have been really helpful for me.

Sana holds a Bachelor’s in Clinical Psychology from Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (Dean’s List recipient) and an MPhil in Psychology from Dar Suffa University. Her additional training spans Aga Khan University’s Child & Adult Psychiatry course, the University of Amsterdam’s research methods programme, the University of Sydney’s Positive Psychiatry & Mental Health course, and specialised study in traumatic grief, alongside 500+ clients supported across more than 5+ years of clinical practice.
How Online Therapy Works
Sessions take place over secure video conferencing at a scheduled time, just like an in-person appointment — except you join from wherever feels comfortable and private for you. You'll talk through what's on your mind with Sana in real time, with the same structure and confidentiality as face-to-face therapy.
Standard therapy sessions typically run 45–50 minutes.
It varies. Some clients find brief, solution-focused therapy (around 6–12 sessions) enough to work through a specific issue, while others — particularly those working through trauma, grief, or longer-standing patterns like parentification — prefer longer-term, exploratory work.
Yes. Therapy is entirely your choice, and you're free to pause or stop at any point. Sana will always support that decision at a pace that feels right for you, rather than pushing you to continue.
Scope of Support
Research consistently shows online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions for most concerns, including anxiety, depression, and stress. What matters most is the strength of the therapeutic relationship and consistency of sessions — both of which translate fully to a secure video format.
Yes. Therapy isn't only for crisis moments — it's also a space to understand yourself better, break self-critical patterns, and build a healthier, more confident relationship with who you are, even if you're already functioning well day-to-day.
Absolutely — you don't need a diagnosis to benefit from therapy. Feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or simply "not yourself" is a valid reason to reach out, and early support often prevents those feelings from building into something heavier.
A psychologist, like Sana, provides talk therapy and psychological support through structured approaches such as CBT and DBT, and does not prescribe medication. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medication, sometimes alongside therapy. Many people benefit from psychological support alone, while others use both in tandem.
Trauma-informed therapy is an approach that recognises how past difficult experiences shape present-day thoughts, relationships, and behaviour — and creates a safe, paced environment to work through them without re-traumatising you in the process.
Health and Psyche combines clinical training in evidence-based approaches like CBT and DBT with a genuine understanding of Pakistani cultural context — family expectations, log kya kahenge, and the pressure to hold it all together — so you're getting support that actually fits your life, not generic advice.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Yes. Sessions run through secure, encrypted video conferencing. What you share in session stays between you and Sana, in line with standard professional confidentiality practice. The only exceptions are situations involving risk of serious harm, which any responsible clinician is ethically required to address.
First Session & Support
Find a private, quiet space with a stable connection, and don't worry about preparing anything specific to say — the first session is really about getting to know you, your history, and what you're hoping to work on.
That's completely normal, and Sana expects it — most people feel some nerves starting therapy, especially for the first time. You're never expected to have it all figured out; the session moves at your pace.
That's okay, and it happens often. Therapy is one of the few spaces where you don't have to hold it together, and there's no judgement attached to an emotional response.
That's fine too — Sana will gently guide the conversation with questions to help you find your footing, especially in early sessions. You don't need a script.
Pakistanis Abroad
Yes. Health and Psyche offers online therapy to clients around the world, so you can work with a psychologist who understands Pakistani family and cultural dynamics no matter where you're currently based.
Yes — sessions can be scheduled around US time zones, giving you access to a Pakistani psychologist's cultural understanding without needing to find someone local who shares that context.
Yes. Sana works with clients navigating the specific pressures of diaspora life — balancing two cultures, family expectations from home, and identity questions that a therapist unfamiliar with Pakistani context might miss entirely.
Yes. Homesickness, isolation, and the disorientation of building a new life abroad are common reasons clients reach out, and therapy can help you process that adjustment rather than just push through it alone.
Family & Boundaries
Yes. Family dynamics — including boundaries, communication, and expectations shaped by joint family culture — are among the most common topics clients bring to therapy at Health and Psyche.
Boundary-setting is something Sana works through with clients directly, since it looks different in every family — but it typically starts with getting clear on what you need, then finding language that protects that need without escalating conflict.
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or noticing the same painful patterns repeating in your relationships or emotions, that's usually enough reason to reach out — you don't need to hit a crisis point first.
Common signs include constant exhaustion that rest doesn't fix, feeling detached from things you used to care about, irritability, and a sense of just going through the motions. If that sounds familiar, it's worth exploring before it deepens.
